Electrical
Replace defective light switches.
A screwdriver and a pliers is all that is needed. Turn off the breaker remove and replace. Make sure to connect the wires the same way you disconnected them. You just saved $50.00
Plumbing
Do you have to wiggle the toilet handle to get the water to stop flowing?
Stop in at your local hardware store and ask them to help you find a replacement valve.

Loose hinge screws
Cabinet doors or entry and interior doors can have screws that get loose over time.
If the screw hole is fairly tight on a cabinet door, put a little super glue on the screw and tighten it up. If the door is large or the screw hole is stripped out. Push wooden toothpicks into the hole and reinstall the screws. You just saved another $50.00
Door Knobs
Do your knobs and handles seem to come loose on there own. Put a drop of removable thread lock such as loctite brand or use a little fingernail polish in the bolt threads. You just saved money and frustration.
One of the biggest money saving tips I can give you is: Don’t neglect repairs! The longer you let it leak, rub, squeak or stick the more expensive or troublesome it will be to repair it latter.
These items do not require any tools other than a screwdriver and a pair of pliers. If you are considering larger projects remember to buy quality tools. You may not need to latest greatest biggest and best. But you do get what you pay for. Make your tool investments wisely. No need to waste money while trying to save it.
